In case you have not heard, The Ballard Inn restaurant got a makeover and a new name. The owners Chris and Chef Budi Kazali decided it was time for a refresh after taking over back in 2004. The restaurant is now called The Gathering Table and will be serving small plates of food that are meant to be shared.
The interior got a full remodel with a casual wine country sheik feel. In the center of the dining room is a long, rustic wood table that invites guests to mingle. There are also private booths that line the back side of the room that evoke a sense of rustic elegance.
The new menu is a great mix of traditional menu items like Caesar salad, oysters on the half shell, foie gras and some innovative offerings like spicy chicken wings confit, pork belly sliders, and octopus sashimi. And with sides like garlic noodles, bacon mashed potatoes, and sautéed brocollini, the menu is also family-friendly.
All of this delectable cuisine can be enjoyed with a bottle of Gainey wine. You will find our 2012 Merlot on the wine menu. It pairs well with a variety of foods because of its position in the middle of the red wine spectrum. In general, Merlot pairs well with chicken and other light meats as well as lightly-spiced dark meats.
